I wrote this to express the feelings of my young son. He couldn’t say how he was feeling, so I did it for him. I hope in the years to come, that he won't have to say the "never mind".

Thanks for listening to this one. It was even hard to type it.

Where Are You Daddy?
Hey daddy, I'm right here -
Can't you see me?

Hey daddy, I'm talking to you -
Can't you hear me?

Hey daddy, I need a hug -
Can't you touch me?

Let's play catch daddy.
Teach me to fish.
Help me build a birdhouse.
Listen to my wish.

Daddy, daddy, where are you?
I can see you standing there -
What's the matter daddy?
Don't you even care?

I need you daddy -
Don't you love me?

Never mind daddy.

LOVED IT! My son is 6 3/4 yrs old and hasn't seen his dad since Jan. 1 2006 and really once a month or so if he was "lucky" before that. He got married Dec. 31 05 - U figure it out. He is losing out yet I know my son loves his dad and it hurts me so -- what do I do? Does the dad deserve another chance? He says he wants one but. He has had so many in the past. Hunter is a very special child and loving - I just don't know what to do. Hunter has stopped calling him daddy and uses Jimmy instead and at church last yr on father's day he told them he didn't have a dad anymore. I grew up without a dad and don't want the same for my son but I met my dad yrs ago when I was 17 and yrs later I was very glad I wasn't raised with him. I pray for God's help. To Diane Blue - it made me cry and touched me so much. I, too, hope and pray your child doesn't have to say "never mind". As the daying goes " Anyone can be a father but it takes someone special to be a Daddy". May yours and mine get the Daddy they deserve and who will cherish them like we do.

i haven't seen my father in 6 years. he used to be there for me. and let me visit. and write to me. and do fun things. and was a normal "dadddy". but one day he decided not to show up. and decided we aren't worth his time. he calls to wish us happy bdays and christmas. thats all. im not even sad about it anymore. whenever i think about it actually calms me. i don't feel an ounce of pain from it. its almost like i never knew him. like when he calls its a telemarketer asking survey questions. this is where my forgetfullness comes in handy. this actually might be the reason i forget other things. is cuz im so used to having to forget him. [srry that was so incredibly long]

THANK YOU!ITS MY KIDS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THERE DAD. HE DOES NOT REALIZE THAT HE CAN NEVER GET BACK THIS TIME HE HAS NOW. ITS SAD THAT OUR KIDS MUST GO THROUGH THIS. I SPEND EVERY MOMENT WITH MY KIDS. THERE THE REASON I LIVE. TIME IS NOW AND YOU CAN'T REWIND IT.

I love this poem. I have a son that last year on his birthday in February sat down and wrote his dad a letter. In it he put "the best birthday present I want is you". Now how do I handle that? I just keep trying to get information so I can send him that letter and he can see that though my son is very strong and ready to be 10. that he(his dad) is the one that is holding the key to his happiness and fullness. I love this poem.

MY SON IS GOING THROUGH THAT. AND IT IS HARD FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND. I AM SO SORRY THAT YOUR CHILD AND ANY OTHER CHILD HAS TO GO THROUGH THAT. THIS IS A VERY TOUCHING POEM. I HOPE THAT IF THERE ARE ANY DADS READING THIS I SURE HOPE YOU TELL AND HUG AND SHOW YOUR CHILDREN THAT YOU REALY LOVE THEM. CAUSE THEY LOOK UP TO YOU AND IF YOU DON'T SHOW THEM . THEN THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS . THAT GOES FOR MOTHERS THAT DON'T CARE TOO. SO PLEASE GIVE YOUR CHILD A HUG AND TELL THEM I LOVE YOU.

This is a really sweet poem, makes people realize that you can't take things for granted and that even if children act as if they don't care, deep inside they do. They just need a little push. Their sadness is evident in the "nevermind" showing that they have given up on trying.
