#45 I Want To Know

This poem ask the question many of us seek when we enter a relationship - whether it will be intimate or plutonic. It expresses my own inner thoughts, yet gives that special someone the opportunity to express theirs as well.

I Want To Know

I want to know the you
That has not been introduced to anyone else.
I'm talking about the you
That you've been keeping to yourself.

I want to know your most recent fantasy -
You know, the one that just tickled your fancy.
I want to know each and every thought of me,
So I can lay back and contemplate bringing them to reality.

I want to know that spot
That seems to be under so much stress.
Because as a body physician, I have the answer -
It just needs to be caressed.

I want to know if that same spot
Was rubbed, licked and kissed,
Would your mind ponder
On what you could've missed.

I want to know what makes you happy,
What makes you sad,
What makes you sigh
And what makes you cry.

If I have to take a dive,
And explore the ocean floor,
I'll find out
And bring it back to shore.

I want to know,
That no matter what we're going through
Whether our lives are sunny or blue
I want to know - do I have a friend in you?

I am persuing a special girl. I am serious about her. In my own mind she is the one for me, but she understandably says let's just be friends for now. These words of this poem say what I have been repeating to her for a month, but ineffectively --- at least I think so. But when I read this to her her response was an overwhelming positive. Now I feel I have hope.

Words are used to communicate. Knowing how to put words together to express a complete thought is easy to do. But only the best of the best can put thoughts together to express the truth. Poets have a hard job to do, because they have to be sincere in order for their readers to enjoy their poetry. I enjoyed this poem not only because I have experience the feeling, but because it was well written and explained the poets thoughts in detail.
