This Poem is about loneliness, about suicide. There's no way to describe it, really. It speaks for itself.

This poem originally was published in Sad Poems - Depression and Suicide Poems

Just a Little Longer
Desolation,
Wide open space,
Between the trees and me,
Emptiness and me,
Confusion and decisions,
Feelings hard to define,
And I say to myself,
Just a little longer,

Coldness seeps
Its way in,
I am falling deeper,
Into what I fear most,
As I reach out,
There is nothing there,
As possible there was something once,
Only to be gone,
And I say to myself,
Just a little longer,

The sun drops,
The last inch of light falls,
The squirrels more likely to be huddled up,
But not me,
Something I never possessed,
And I say to myself,
Just a little longer,

Then the sun has gone,
Darkness spreads its wings over me,
I see nothing so no one sees me,
Feeling of bitterness only,
And I say to myself,
Just a little longer,

An Owl peers down,
With question in her eyes,
She doesn't have a hope,
In helping me,
As she doesn't see my pain,
Spreads her wings,
Passes me by,
And I say to myself,
Just a little longer,

The soft earth,
Seems the only thing holding me up,
Even then I could slip,
And wondering takes me,
To why and how I got here,
Without even knowing it,
Yet no one notices,
As they didn't see before,
So I say to myself,
Just a little longer,

Shimmering in the darkness,
I see two moons,
Reflecting off a stream of thoughts,
Ongoing forever more,
Along a rocky road,
Slowly giving in to finding a way out,
I take the plunge under the river,
Then the wind carries a whisper,
Gently on a breeze,
'Just a little longer.'

WOW. This poem is amazing. I have had the feeling of to just be vainished from this world and be gone from the time since I remembered I was somebody alive in this dark world. But I always waited telling myself just a little longer. Sometimes I say to myself thats just a little too long. When I read your poem I know why I waited so long. Its like I am waiting for something to come a big change in my life, but I dont see any sign of it yet. I am just waiting for a miracle to happen.

Wow this poem was great. It seems so real, I feel like this is what I am feeling. You were able to say the things that were real and the things that you felt, it takes guts to say that things are bad, but never give up hope. I find myself struggling the way you are describing in this poem.

IT'S REALLY AMAZING HOW SO MANY PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD HAVE THE SAME FEELINGS OF BEING LOST IN THE WORLD, ALONE. I HAVE TRIED TO KILL MYSELF. I HAVE REALIZED FOR ONCE I MUST OF DONE SOMETHING RIGHT BECAUSE I'M STILL HERE. BUT THE FEELING OF BEING HURT, LOST AND ALONE DON'T SEEM TO GO AWAY. I AM 20 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH DEPRESSION SINCE I WAS 9 YEARS OLD. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WRITING THIS POEM BECAUSE IT NOT ONLY STANDS FOR THE ONE WHO WROTE IT BUT SO MANY MORE PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD. GREAT POEM.

This poem is amazing. In my own times of despair and my incredible lack of patience I've often said "just a little longer" as a way to pull through. The best I've seen on this page. Keep writing, and when things get to their worst. remember, wait "just a little longer". Thanks for sharing your voice.
  • alannah

When i was 13 i tried to commit suicide and then again at 15, my life was tuff with so many problems all at once the saying "it never rains, it pours" came to mind. After these 2 failed attempts i kept fighting the urge to end it, i told my self, just a little longer! So when i read this poem i cried, silent tears, a emotion i am so use to feeling, and now i realise i am not alone, i have ME,MYSELF,AND I. it got me through the darkest times! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I am deeply moved by this poem. When I read it I could see myself in the poem. Almost like a reflection. Life can be so hard, it is nice to try and hold on a little longer. Like when you are 13 and saying to yourself, just a little longer and I can drive, when you are 16, just a little longer and I can graduate and get out of my house. It is just nice to know you have somehting to look forward to and hold on to it so you don't loose hope and do something you will regret. Like me, I tried running away from my problems.

At first life was fine, then my father joined the military, he was constantly leaving for T. D. Y's. He was never around, whe I needed him. Then life got a little harder. With school, now the stress was not so bad, but stress is actually like X-Rays, A little here and there can't hurt you, It's the cumulative affect of to much that does. Now life is so hard that I cry myself to sleep. but seeing as how you have actually tried to commit suicide I realize that there are other people in the world with the same or more amount of stress to deal with. This chilled me to the bone.

This was deep. I can honestly say I know how that feels. I write poetry because the words flow from my mouth like it's nothing weak. The feelings are real. The thoughts are real, but when you look for help. The friends aren't there. Your not alone.
