This poem was written for my son, Caleb Aaron who past away on July 9, 1997.

This poem originally was published in Sad Poems - Poems about Death

Silent Child
My silent child
our precious baby,
Close to my heart
I'll keep you with me.
An important job
God has for you,
There is love to give,
and work to do.

He needs an angel
strong but small,
To shine light on many
and give love to all.
Before you go
I give you this,
half my heart
and one last kiss.

We'll miss you dearly
that we know,
But by God you were
chosen,
So to heaven, you must go

I've been looking for a poem like this to express my thoughts about the loss of my son, Patrick Michael whom I lost from premature birth a year ago this month. He was one hour old when he passed, I wrote a letter to him and put it in his casket and told him the same thing in the letter, that God had important things for him to do and that I hoped it was to be a beacon of light for those in their darkest hours. Thank you for this poem, it is beautiful.

I have a sister-in-law that lost a baby boy 1 hour after he was born. That would be one year ago today, February 8,2006. We all got together and put together a scrap book and I needed a poem to put on my page and this one was perfect, absolutely perfect. Thank you so much from someone who couldn't quite find the words to express the way they felt.

My son was born three months premature as a result of an assault, he weighed 1lb 6oz. on 9-13-2005. He was doing good and coming home soon and on November 12, 2005 i got a call from the NICU saying his heartrate was dropping. When I got to the hospital they unhooked his tubes for me to hold him. I had to sit there and watch my son die in my arms. There was nothing the doctors could do. I cried bc i felt that i had failed as a mother and as his protector. This poem makes me look at this situation as my son is safe and he is now watching over me, everyday.

I am so sorry for your loss. That poem was lovely. It brought tears to my eyes. Being a mother and having to lose a child is the hardest things in my life i had to deal with. They say with time it gets easier. But they are so wrong . there is not one day that goes by that i don't think of my daughter. Your poem came from your heart and that is where you will always have your son.
