This is a very personal poem. I was 19 when I discovered I was pregnant. I love my son more than life, but at the time I felt very lost and confused. I wrote the poem about two weeks after hearing the news.

This poem originally was published in Sad Poems

Going To Be A Mother
I face the future
Already planned for me
No nothing for me to expect
There’s nothing to wait and see

For my destiny has been mapped out
I shall have no more youthful days
I shall never feel the thrill again
Of raucous, rebellious ways

I shall rear a child for eighteen years
Maybe even longer
For although I’m still a child myself
I’m going to be a mother

I wished I saw this poem when I got pregnant I am 21 and have 2 kids and lost 3 I lost one at the age of 13 a lil boy plus i lost my daughter's twin at 4 months into the pregnancy then i lost my son's twin at 3 months so I am supposed to have a 9 yr old, 2 8 yr olds, and 2 4 yr olds yup 5 kids at 21 the sad thing is that i have none of them i lost my son and daughter due to lies that there dad said plus my first born's dad passed on April 21,2001 exactly 2years and sum odd months afterour son. well i hope that all young mom's to be or mommy's love their kids unconditionly because the pain you feel when you lose them is unbearable.

this poem is so good, I was 21 and found out i was pregnant with twins and i had broke up with the father this has been the most difficult thing in my life, i felt exactly how you did but it was on the loss of my twins that it made me see id lost the best thing that has happened to me, it was and is still 4 years on the hardest thing to have to say goodbye. i decided not to tell the father i guess in a way to protect him from the hurt that i will live with for the rest of my life, ive made the choice to protect him be it right or wrong. my twins and all ur babies live on forever more there our little rising stars.

My child, you sure are going to be a mother now, if thos poem is reality! But your youth is not lost! Yes, you have to be responsible now, but you will not believe the love you will hold for that little baby! I am 22, Married, and I have a 3 year old little girl. I cannot imagine life without her! She is so perfect in every way! And each day is a new lesson for me as well as her! I am growing up too! We all are! Even if your 55 with grandbabys, your still growing up too!
  • Rachel
I understand how you feel. I was 14 years old when I first got pregnant but I was forced to get an abortion. Take good care of your child they're the greatest blessing God could ever give a woman.
  • Danielle
Hey, this was a really great poem for me! I had my baby boy at the age of 15 and yet the youngest mother i know!I was hard at first. Goin throught all the pain and THOSE 9 MONTHS! But afterwards so so worth it! I am now 17 yrs old and i love my son more than anything and would do anything in the world for him! When my son was born can u believe his sorry ass dad wasnt even there said he wanted no part of this and wasnt his fault. I guess I got myself pregant. huh. lol. Well good luck in future and i wish u and your baby the best in life!
  • ERIKA
THIS IS A VERY GOOD AND BAD SITUATION I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS AND I HOPE I DONT AT THIS AGE. ITS REALLY REALLY NICE TO HAVE A BABY BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER THE AGE OF 20 AND UP BUT STILL I HOPE ALL YOU PREGNATE GIRLS ALWAYS MAKE THE RIGHT DESICIONES AND NEVER GIVE ABORTION BECAUSE THATS THE MOST TERRIBLE THING A MOTHER CAN DO.
  • Stephanie

Splendid! I'm 21 and though i haven't been a mother yet, I can relate to your poem coz i did have a similar experience in which i thought i was pregnant with my boyfriend's baby. It made me paranoid for a couple of days but luckily I wasn't pregnant. But how u felt in the poem, was exactly what I had felt at that time in my life.

This poem has touched and inspired me for i am 17 years old and i am going to be a mother. I am 8 months pregnant and i feel so depressed and alone right now, i feel i have no one. Just as thnigs seem to get better my baby daddy and i always fall out. I'm about ready to call it a quit between us because he is causing to much stress on me and it's going to affect my child. I want my little girl to grow up with a father but i really can't take it any more.

i relate to this all the way i am only 14 years of age and iam 71/2 mths pregnate. I was thinking of abortion but i couldn't kill something i made. So i decided iam keeping it or should i say "her". My baby's father is 19 and is still in our lives. We are very happy, But iam really scared. Its gonna be hard but i think i can get threw it. its just theres not a right way to be a mother. I myself lost my mother at the age of 9 and my father is not really happy at the fact that iam pregnate. and keeping her. well i just hope what i am writing can help some of ya'll. wait til you love someone to have "sex"

i found out i was 6mths pregnant wen i was 12,my baby boy was born exactly a month b4 my 13th birthday. he was supposed 2 have been adopted at birth but wen i saw him he was gorgeous+i fell inlove wiv him. he is now just turned 8. lookin back now maybe i would have had an abortion if i had known early enuf but now i love my son wiv every beat of my heart and wouldnt change him for the world! every1 looked at me oddly wen i took him out-old ladies told me i was 2 young 2 be in charge of such a young baby+told me 2 take him home 2 his mum-they were gobsmacked wen i told them he was my son. they would mutter under their breaths about the 'youths of today' never mind wot other ppl think-wherther ur in a relationship or bringin the child up on ur own-u will manage+in time u will get ur life back again. just enjoy motherhood-its the best experience in the world XXX

I was 18 when i had Stevie, when i found out i thought that my life was over, i was now just a mother. I look at my daughter as i type this, she smiles up at me with her toothie grin, while she does her homework and i hate my self for every thinking that because of her my life was over, she is my life and i still have so much more to see with her.
  • Tori
Yea I can relate to that poem. When I was 11 someone I know sold me for drugs, and I got pregnant. Unfortunatly he died:( But I remember that feeling. It'll all be okay. I took care of him by myself for 3 years. So it'll all be okay!

I got pregnant when I was 17, and I can really relate to this poem. It is very true. But with alot of hard work and support, anything is possiable,I am now 25 my daughter is 7,we've had it hard at times but have made it through, with support from family and friends, she is a straight a student,I am a leasing agent,And my daughter is excited of her new baby sister on the way. What seems to be impossiable at times is possiable if only you give it your all.
