My poem is about holding people back. I held back a past love, and therefore, I lost him.

But even though we lose someone, it doesn't mean they can't be in our thoughts.

Thinking

Thinking. Can't stop thinking.
Think of you. This. That. That Life. That day.
That dream was mine.
A utopian dream.

Your aura; struck me like lightning to a tree.
Pointy, like a star, you shone.
So bright, yet not shining as a star would,
But as apparent as white chalk on a blackboard.
You would not show off like a star.
Yet you did burn so hot, so fiercely, so explosively -
you were a star in my eyes.

But like all stars, you died.
That gas was gone.
No pull between us.
The atmosphere was dry
and I began to choke.
I was taken from my star - like a child being taken from its poor,
drunken mother - I did not know what was happening.
Dazed. Confused. Without true reality, I there sat.
Wondering.

The end of my world had only just begun, with yours beginning.

    This poem reflects exactly how i am feeling right now. I am 17 and in a 2year relationship. I just feel like our relationship has lost it's pull. Her and her family are moving to austrailia sometime soon and I just feel like my star is fading away. Thankz 4 your poem, it's really moving im just glad that somepeople have the gift to use words to such an affect whereas i cannot :)

    This is a fantastic poem. It's exactly how I feel. My life ended when my former loves began. I miss her So much even though it's been so long since I've seen or talked to her. Anyway Great poem 10 out of 10. It's So sad how two people can be in love, and then once it ends one person acts like they weren't in love at all. Absolutely crushing to a persons' soul. Sorry for the babaling.

    This is truly my situation perhaps even more literally than you could have known in it's creation. But I am coming to the realization that my lover of 3 years has a boyfriend and I am on the way out. I've also learned that my Hiv disease has become more agressive and that I may be looking at the inevitable decline of my health and that I will likely slide on downwards on my ownm, alone. Meanwhike he is too consumed in the heat of the biginnings of his new situation to even see the writing on the wall. Thank you for writing it!

    This poem touched me in ways words can't even imagin because I am 15 yrs old and 3 days befor I turned 15 my boyfriend died in a car accident and my word is ending and I dodn't know how to move on. and I go out on whoever trys to talk about it, and it gets really bad at night when I'm lying in bed and that's all I can think about. your poem was great it was better than any one I've ever read!
